Patagonia's capilene is supreme
I know there are a lot of good and bad wicking shirts all over the place but in my opinion, you'll never be disappointed with Patagonia's Capilene baselayers. Stick with what works - all the time, every time.

Great as a Tee shirt or undershirt
Nice fabric with just the right amount of stretch. It is cool when worn alone in hot weather but warm when used as a base layer. I don't think the fabric is quite as soft as cotton - but it is soft enough for me. It is sized for a loss fit and I'm using a size smaller than usual. It has not pilled after five washes.

Very, very durable
I bought two, one for myself and one for my son. He wore his playing ultimate Frisbee, and skidded, rolled diving for catches. Although his back was covered in dirt/grass, the shirt has held up much better than cotton, and you don't have to worry about stains. The fit is exactly right too. I'm 5'10", 165 and a medium was perfect for me. This material fits snugly, comfortably around shoulders/arms without binding, and does not blouse around the waist like cotton does.

good light weight T-shirt
I bought this T about 2 weeks ago and really like it. The material feels like cotton and the mesh construction keep you cool. I only wish it is a little thicker.
