A versatile essential in any outdoor wardrobe, the Patagonia Capilene 2 Lightweight Crew for Women features open, highly breathable Capilene 2 knit fabric. The lightweight material allows for unhindered airflow and excellent wicking for endurance activities in warm to moderate temperatures. If you're comparing Capilene numbers, Capilene 2 is the fastest-drying Capilene baselayer available from Patagonia. Hikers and climbers like the low-bulk fabric and tapered fit because it layers well with practically any outerwear (Patagonia recommends pairing their Capilene pullovers with Capilene 3 or Capilene 4 fleece in frigid conditions). Patagonia gave their Capilene 2 Crew a curvilinear construction with seams that refuse to chafe beneath a pack or climbing sling. Capilene 2 is also made from quick-wicking, fast-drying 54% post-consumer recycled (and 100% recyclable) polyester that's treated with Gladiodornatural odor control. In a recent research program, Common Threads Recycling Program demonstrated that the environmental impact of recycling worn-out Capilene base layers into new polyester fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. When you consider that worn-out garments are diverted from trash incinerators, making new polyester fiber from recycled garments results in an energy savings of 76% and a CO2 emissions (those greenhouse gasses) reduction of 71%, versus creating that fiber from new raw material. It's a design that you can feel good about anywhere on the planet.

Amazing comfort
I bought this because I was looking for a non-compression base layer for cold weather hiking. I am more than impressed with the comfort of this top. I am 6'3" and 185 lbs. It is form fitting but not too tight. That is exactly what I was looking for. It is warm but breaths, wicking away moisture. This top is very lightweight and takes up very little space in my pack. Great for taking anywhere I go in case I encounter cold weather.
As Advertised
There are days i wish all clothes were made from Patagonia's capilene and this shirt reinforces this belief. Versatile on its own and a great layering piece. the longer body makes it easier to tuck than some other shirts. not as smooth as Cap 1 SW and runs a little bigger than some Cap 1 SW shirts i have.
Great Baselayer
Patagonia makes some fantastic baselayers in the Capilene 1,2,3 and 4 versions. This is the lightweight version and is a comfortable shirt to wear, looks good and does a great job of wicking moisture. Not a warm shirt on it's own but works great as a baselayer. Patagonia considers this a slim fit but I think of it more as an athletic fit, fits snug but not tight. It is not compression fit like some other baselayers.
Good warmth.
Capilene 2 crew fits differently than the Capilene 3. My torso is kinda long: the medium 3 fits me best, while the in Capilene 2, the large is a better fit. So my advice for taller, skinny people stuck in between sizes, go large for the Capilene 2. Capilene 2 has provided me with good warmth and wicking capabilities on cold, active days.
