High quality but bulky
I recently purchased and returned the Patagonia Highwater vest. To be fair, the vest was of a very high quality. I love the mesh back, the front pockets, the shoulder freedom for paddling/casting, and the buckle front. The vest breathes very well and seems extremely functional. My one complaint, which was a dealbreaker, was the thickness of the padding. To allow a wide range of arm motions, padding seems to have been concentrated in the inner chest and neck areas, rather than spreading it out over the shoulders and outer chest. This resulted in a vest that was too bulky for my personal taste.
