The Patagonia Half Mass Bag holds busy lives together. Built for bike commuters and sized for a day's worth of gear, it has padding on the backside and along the contoured base to protect the contents and provide structure. Inside, a padded computer sleeve cradles a 17-inch or smaller laptop safely off the ground. The main compartment features a drop pocket that secures with a hook-and-loop tab, a mesh pocket, a padded electronics pocket, pen sleeves and a secure zippered pocket. The cover flap overlaps the sides of the bag to block rain; its pocket closes with a water-resistant zipper. The external side pocket stows a cell phone, power cords or water bottle. The bag's no-slip shoulder strap is fully adjustable, and the waist strap stows away. With a topside carrying handle, a reflective panel for visibility at night and a bike-light mount. Made of 600-denier 100% recycled polyester with a polyurethane coating and a Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

great everyday multi-purpose bag
I have the critical mass and half mass, both of which are great. The half mass bag has room for my work stuff, after work hiking/outdoor gear, and my dog's stuff, all in a size that won't hurt my back carrying. If you have a lot of days belongings plus a laptop, I'd go for the critical mass bag, but if it's just a days things then the half mass is big enough. Both great purchases and definitely worth the money!
Great Buy
Great bag! Perfect size for biking around town, taking it to class, using it as a carry on, simple design makes it perfect for just about whatever you need.
Great Bag
I went round and round on what bag to get and this size is perfect for school not too big- not too small.
excellent messenger/laptop bag!
I purchased the Half Mass bag in Fusion Sunset (color) and recently traveled with it as my carry-on, filled with my laptop and other stuff. This bag is fantastic...love the way it looks, the generous cushioning on the strap, the adjustability of the straps, and the optional waist/hip strap that can be used when the bag is extra heavy (in the airport between flights, it helps!). So far, I've found this bag to be quite durable, good-looking, and well worth the money. Way to go once again, Patagonia!
Great Bag
