Terrific Gloves
I live in NYC and finally decided to get some serious gloves. They're very warm for the weight, windproof, and the grip on the palms and fingers make them great for walking the dogs and negotiating the waste bags. Perfect for around town while juggling totes, metrocards, shopping bags, and all other city obstacles. I have the smalls and find they fit snug but not tight, I could probably even squeeze a liner in if I needed to.

Warm for the weight
If you want warmth without giving up much dexterity, then I recommend these gloves. The grip material not only helps keep a grasp on things, but it also improves the durability in areas (such as fingertips) where I usually wear out fleece gloves first. They actually do block wind penetration, which maintains finger warmth.

fashionable, warm, very wind-resistant
I bought these for my wife. Outdoor Research makes excellent winter gloves--the ones for women are nice because they have an attractive Wild Roses logo, which makes them fashionable for winter outerwear. They do have a snug fit, which takes a little getting used to. If that's not what you want, perhaps you might consider a size up.

warm & lightweight
Warm, trim, lightweight, my wife says she likes the snug wrist fit.
