Great hat for chilly nights out
Since I keep my head shaved I need a decent hat when I'm out in any weather under 50 degrees. For evenings out with friends when a simple knit hat or beanie isn't appropriate, I picked up the OR Pub hat and love it. I've got several pub hats from various manufacturers and this one is by far the most comfortable and good looking. Not sure how it would hold up to serious outdoors activity, but for a night on the town after a full day of hiking or climbing, it's just the thing.
If you've looked this far, just buy it!
It's a great cap for the cooler seasons. The ear flap, while small, does provide some help if you're caught out on a truly cold day, I consider it a bonus feature since the hat is everything I wanted on its own, and the ear flap isn't at all in the way when not used. To me, the fleece lining is what it has over comparable hats.
Retro Cool
Nice and retro stylish, it will steal a double look of attention compared to a stocking/baseball cap. It's warm and cool, breaths very well. I like the fleece lining, and yes there is not much to the ear flaps (but should there be for a Ivy hat). The brim, it's not ridged at all, more like a piece of foam (but some how it works). The brim maybe designed so to not get damaged in the bottom of pack or rolled up in a pocket. It is a winter hat, for summer use I would lean more towards a waxed canvas ivy cap. The sizing has some play to it as the hat will stretch naturally to fit.
good, but earflaps to thin
i bought the odd job hat last season, and loved it. really warm. great with wind on blustry bike rides, and the ear flaps were absolutely amazing when temperatures fell. these earlflaps on the pub cap are half as thick, and barely hugs the ears. i find they only add some warmth with under a hood.
Pub Cap ear flops
I like the pub cap, but am disappointed in the earflaps that fold down. They barely cover the ears without tugging down on them, and they have no lining at all. I didn't buy this hat to go out on a cold-weather hike, but it would have been nice if the earflaps were lined and covered the ears better. I looked all over the web and couldn't find anything else, so I purchased this hat for the earflap feature. Also, I think they could size the hats as S M L and XL, but they combine the sizes. I understand they likely do that to give more of a "one size fits all" feature. But, I got a L/XL hat and it could be a bit bigger, as my head is huge! All in all a very nice-looking hat. Just needs some minor adjustments to make it better.
