You Will Not Be Let Down...
When I first ordered this jacket I really did not know what to expect since I have never owned an Outdoor Research jacket or item of any kind. Let me tell you, this jacket has exceeded all of my expectations and then some! It is completely waterproof and windproof! The fact that the hood is removable is totally awesome as well. The fit is perfect (XL, I am 5'11", 200lbs) and the black is easy to match with everything. From the waterproof zippers, the ease of the fit, the fact that a jacket can be so completely waterproof, warm AND lightweight still just amazes me. I wear my jacket all the time and that says a lot since I live in Alaska. All seasons, this jacket keeps me warm and happy. Money very well spent. I am ordering another one for my brother. Love it!

Just about perfect
This is my first soft shell jacket, and it has been great. It has a slim fit which is perfect for me. I'm 5/10 160lbs and the Medium leaves enough room for a base layer jacket without looking too big when worn as just a rain jacket. I ran this jacket into rocks, trees, and mud while skiing out west and this jacket stood up to it all. no rips or cuts. I will say that the areas where my pack rubs on my shoulders has made the jacket less waterproof in those spots, but I still use this as a rain jacket. My only complaint would be the height of the chest pockets. They are too high to put your hands in, and if you fill them with stuff you get a weird bulge in front of you because of their placement. Still good for a cliff bar or trail map.

needed a larger size
I received the motto jacket in the mail and took a look. It looked great!!! Loved the chest zip pockets and the back stash pocket, and the hood which is removeable with a zip and buttons on each end of the hood. The jacket feels lightweight, which is what I wanted but was also lined with a fleece like material, which was even better. All the zips were waterprooof seamed which was awesome and the material is amazingly soft and comfortable. I thought I was a Medium by the charts and by what other reviews led me to believe but the Medium was too small so I sent it back. The sleeves were ok but the body was a bit tight especially if I was going to layer it. I am 5'10" and 173lbs. Also, the bottom hem of the jacket is cut on a bias so that your butt is covered (good) but your front groin area may not be. Overall really nice jacket. Needed bigger size. A large.

Good contoured fit - 5' 9" 160 lbs (M). Love the ski bib. Looking forward to many more ski trips in this jacket. Love the espresso color too. Even better than in the photo.

Perfect Jacket
This jacket is great for everything winter-related. I'm not a huge fan of those thick, 3-in-1 coats, and the Motto Jacket was the perfect solution. Its not the heaviest coat out there, but it is extremely wind and water proof with all of the zippers and seams sealed. As a result, it not only cuts down on some the major causes of chill, but acts as a dandy insulator to keep you warm without making you look like a marshmallow. I currently live in Michigan and this puppy has kept me dry and toasty through most of the winter. On particularly brutal days its easy to add a layer or two underneath to really crank up the heat. I've also taken it skiing out in Montana and it held up quite nicely on and off the slopes. The appropriately placed pockets and zip-in powder skirt were key here. It's very stylish and fits well to boot. I'm 6'3" at just under 200 lbs and the XL fit me quite well. Overall, a great jacket I have nothing to complain about. Definitely will be going with Outdoor Research and Altrec in the future.
