My favorite all purpose gloves
Second pair of OR Windstopper gloves. My previous pair lasted through 10 years of heavy use spring skiing, mountaineering, trail running, and cycling. These new grippers appear to have some nice improvements. The fit is very anatomical thanks to the box construction, but they have done a good job of keeping the seams small enough so as not to feel obnoxious or uncomfortable. They are snug but in no way constricting on my (somewhat skinny) fingers. The sizing chart seems to be accurate. It recommended me a large, and minus the thumb being a tad long, the fit is spot on. The gauntlet on these fits snug against your wrist, which I personally prefer versus a more open style, but they are still very easy to put on quickly thanks to a nylon pull loop (which could also double as a carabiner loop in climbing situations). The grip on the palms/fingers seems very durable - much more so than my previous OR windstopper gloves and they held up for years of heavy use, so I have high hopes for these. I tested out the North Face Pamir glove and the Marmot Windstopper glove along with these and personally felt that OR has them bested in terms of build quality and fit.
Great gloves
Toasty and totally windproof gloves that fit great! The palms get a little slick when it is cold (its the gripping material when it gets cold) and the cuffs tend to roll up-but these are very minor qualms. Overall, the gloves are great. Would definitely buy again from OR as well as Altrec.
All in all, a good value
Like other outdoor products, sometimes the best choice is an article of clothing that's not great at anything but "pretty good" at several things. The Gripper fits that bill. They aren't as nimble as a snug pair of liners but as full blown gloves go, they are deft enough to where you don't have to pull them off every time you need to grab something out of your pocket or unhook something, etc. They aren't super warm but the windstopper material helps a lot in that department. They aren't waterproof but they'll do for sweeping snow off the windshield or if caught in a shower while biking or on a hike. Finally, they are small enough to pack well, whether in a backpack or in a glovebox. All and all, very handy and not bad looking. Very pleased with my purchase.
Great all round mountain glove
light enough to still work in, warm enough to keep the chill away from the fingers. I always throw a pair in the bottom of my pack for just in case.
OK but Expected Warmer
Overall, these are decent gloves but for their cost, I was hoping they would be warmer. No problem with the grip on these gloves - good for driving. I also like their length - they tuck nicely under jacket sleeves. One thing that can be bothersome at times is the inner seams in the fingers.
