A monster of a jacket, the rugged Men's Outdoor Research Alibi Jacket is a combination of different materials conscientiously designed in all the right places. Tough, weatherproof fabric is used on the hood and shoulders where the elements hit the hardest, a warm soft shell lower body holds in core warmth while providing breathability as the climb heats up, and stretch fabric along the torso allows easy, unrestricted movement for the longest reaches. A two piece hood, with an inner helmet liner and an outer shell keeps the head warm and protected so that focus can stay on the next move. Engineered for motion, an alpine cut minimizes bulk allowing the jacket to move with you while providing protection from specific conditions you meet in the alpine and ice climbing environments.

alibi jacket
This jacket is perfect in every way except the sleeves don't have any wrist straps and hand over part of the hand. would buy again. med jacket i'm 5'8'' 150 lb.
Very comfortable, good ventilation
Overall this is an excellent softshell that is a step above the others in that it has excellent ventilation and seems to be more water resistant than many. Slightly on the warmer end of softshells, but that is compensated for by the ventilation which is excellent. Good for ice climbing, but also good a a general mountaineering parka in the style of the old 60/40 all purpose parkas that we used decades ago. I don't have enough experience with it to comment on the durability, but it looks tough enough.
Great water resistant jacket, good design!
Very cheap and nice design. good water resistant quality.
Great climbing shell
Just got it recently, the stretch fabrics work well for ice climbing and shed rain and snow well. Warm enough so far without extra layers, I guess I will need a fleece come winter but I have put it to use so far in the Rockies, Cascades and Coastal Range with good results
