Spacious but not too large
I bought this bag for work since I travel quite a bit and the bag I use needs to be able to take a decent amount of abuse. After the first few weeks I was sold, this is one of the best messnager bags out there. The material seems thin however it is extremely durable. The back is padded to add comfort and the zipper on the top allows access to the laptop which is great for going through airport security. Overall I was relaly impressed with this bag and Osprey. The one qualm I have about the bag is that it does look extremely sporty so it barely passes for a work bag .... It is what it is though.
Worth the money
Love this pack. It was bigger than I expected but it holds everything I need for a day. My I pad fits easily along with water and an extra vest or jacket. Nice to fly with as a carry on.
Worth every penny!
I am thrilled with this bag. I spent months vacillating before purchasing it, and I'm so glad I did. The fact that it's made mostly from recycled materials was a big selling point, and it's turned out to be an outstanding purchase. It's very light and comfortable to carry, even with my 7 lb. laptop. The removable cell phone pouch is large enough to hold my iPhone (usually a problem) and attaches securely to the bag's shoulder strap. I love the fact that the zipper across the back allows access to the inside of the bag without having to open the front flap. Great for pulling out a file quickly (or your laptop when going through airport security). The Elroy is incredibly well-constructed, and I would be shocked if it didn't last a lifetime. It doesn't look gigantic (a plus in my book), but holds an amazing amount. This thing is like a clown car - bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. And no matter how much I stuff in, there's always room for more. Don't ask me how Osprey did it. Breaking the laws of physics would be my guess. I took this on a trip recently and managed to fit in my laptop, files, knitting, book, various entertainment devices for a 4 hour flight, sweater, toiletries, etc. And I still had room for my pack rat husband's inevitable spill over from his own over-stuffed carry on. All in all, the Elroy rocks!
Just what I needed!
Admittedly I am a bag queen - ever in search of the perfect bag for whatever occasion. This Osprey bag is perfect for travel on a plane so I can schlepp laptop, food, a jacket, book, phone, etc. I like that it has a long strap to sling behind me. The color is beautiful. I've owned an Osprey day pack and love it. It recently had a rip from washing and they we most helpful and funny on the phone, repaired it and sent it back within a week. I whole-heartedly recommend this bag.
Just Right
I purchased the Osprey Elroy Shoulder Bag for my wife to use for school. She's very happy with it. She especially likes how her Toshiba 17 inch laptop feels stable inside it. She's also mentioned that the shoulder strap feels very comfortable and the briefcase-style handle comes in handy all the time. She says that the bag offers plenty of room for her books and a variety of other things too. Chalk this up as a successful gift purchase. Sometimes I'm not so lucky.
