Do you like to float in powder snow? Want to experience a surfing sensation 8,000 feet above sea level? The wide-waist Nordica Women's Nemesis Ski will take you down the steepest powder-packed chutes, but what's even more surprising is that you can actually ski hardpack--and that's not normally an easy feat for powder skis with 98-millimeter-wide waists. The Nemesis is identical to the award-winning Nordica Men's Enforcer in terms of dimensions, but designed with slight lighter components and offers a more forward binding placement for women. It's not made to carve, but Nordica gave the Nemesis enough of a sidecut that you can make predictable transitions from edge to edge on hard groomed snow. Even so, this ski still performs best in deep powder snow. Nordica designed the Nemesis and the other twin-tip skis in their 2010 freeride collection for easy floatation and near-effortless powder surfing. The Women's Nemesis features a lightweight wood core reinforced with two-ply titanium laminates for easy floatation, although some skiers might not like the slight chatter at higher speeds on hardpack snow. One important note: In previous skiing magazine reviews, the feedback on some of Nordica's skis varied depending on which ski lengths the testers and editors tested, so keep length in mind and match the appropriate sized Nemesis to your skiing preferences. Skis beautifully, even in Cascade crud
I am so pleased with these skis. At first, they did seem a little chattery on the groomers, but I found that shifting my hips back just slightly made them feel much more stable while carving. These skis excel in the heavy, wet snow we get in the Pacific NW. They really want to float and take the work out of deeper snow. They are also a ton of fun on spring corn snow. Next season, I hope to try them out on some lighter powder. I am an advanced skier, 5'5" 130 lbs, and the 169 cm length feels perfect to me.
