Don't think of the Nordica Hot Rod Overdrive as a ski made for intermediate skiers. It's not. In fact, if you prefer cruising the blues and mixing in an occasional black-diamond run, the Hot Rod Overdrive probably is too much ski for you. This ski is more like an express ticket to take you to the places on the mountain that you've only explored so far from your vantage points on the chairlifts. While Nordica oriented the 119-74-104 mm. sidecut dimensions for carving, the Hot Rod Overdrive isn't difficult to handle in the soft snow between the groomed runs. Part of the reason is the vibration-dampening composite-mono/wood core construction (the Overdrive is the only ski in the Hot Rod collection that doesn't have an all-wood core) and the other reason is Nordica's highly flexible XBi CT binding. The XBi CT stands for "X-Balance Central Turn Table." It's an interface that can easily flex the entire length of the ski into a perfect curve for uniform pressure along the edges, so you enjoy better control, powerful turns--and according Nordica, their X-Balance system gives skiers a better sense of balance. What the Hot Rod Overdrive does is give you more confidence on hardpack so you can take on challenging ski runs higher on the mountain.
