Nikwax Softshell Proof, Spray-on Fabric Care renews the durable water repellency (DWR) on the outer face fabric so that moisture beads up and rolls off the garment instead of soaking into the fabric. It greatly reduces moisture weight gain and it provides a predominantly dry outer surface so that moisture vapor is more likely to move, or breathe, to the outside of the garment instead of condensing on the inside. Works great so far!
I went ahead and waterproofed everything before winter, and this worked great. Just spray, no wash. Just make sure you get an even spray and rub in the excess with your fingertips, and then dry the item either in the sun or in front of a fan if you don't have a dryer handy.
