Great pair of shoes for outdoor activities
The New Balance SM720 Water Shoes are a great pair of shoes. The primary use for these shoes are on my fishing/camping trips. I do a lot of creek fishing--where I would hike along the creeks to locate the trouts. And sometimes, stepping in the creek is necessary, due to overhanging shrub-age. These shoes are lightweight, great for trekking through easy trail (especially along creeks). Water drains out of these shoes very well and very quickly, the large drain ports are a great feature on these shoes. The grips on these shoes are amazing, even when they are wet. I did not detect any slips when I was walking through wet rocks/boulders. Knowing that I have a great pair of grips on my feet definitely made it easy to trek in and through the creeks with confidence. Besides using it along the creeks, I think they are a great pair of shoes to use around the campsite. The feature of the independent "rear-flap" makes these shoes very easy to slip in and out. Genius! ...I really like this feature. My only small minor complain is that the shoes are a bit narrow. Even with this minor issue, I still give it 5 stars. I would imagine these shoes also working really well on a boat (good grip, lightweight, great drainage) or canoeing/kayaking/water-rafting. I am definitely bringing these shoes along for my next water-rating trip.
Good Multi-Purpose Shoe
Bought these shoes for a hiking/camping trip with a lot of wet conditions. Shoes had good grip for wet conditions, never lost my footing. Was walking around in streams and waterfalls. Good protection, felt more comfortable then walking around in a sandal. Had to climb a 300 foot wall, and did not slip at all during that. Not the best arch support, so I am not sure if I would recommend hiking long distances with them (over 5 miles). But they worked great as an all around shoe for short hikes and expeditions in the water. They drained well and any small rocks that got in them drained out with the water for the most part. I did not wear any socks with them either and I did not find them to cause any blisters or rubbing. I am a size 10 and they fit true to size, they are very light and easy to get on and off with the lacing system.
