Super lightweight and packable, the Mountain Hardwear Women's Nitrous Hooded Jacket is top-notch when it comes to a high warmth-to-weight ratio. Made with down proof, Sensor Ripstop shell fabric, this winter coat is stuffed with premium 800-fill goose down to trap the heat. Quilted construction and small tight channels hold the down in place for precise insulation and also add a feminine flourish. Designed with a slim silhouette, this hooded down jacket is a versatile piece that will work as an outer layer on a summer bivy in the Sierras or as a mid layer under a shell when you're backcountry skiing in the Tahoe wilderness. The hood does not adjust but is contoured for a snug fit to maximize thermal efficiency. Two front pockets offer refuge for cold hands while a drawcord at the hem and elastic cuffs help seal in warmth. Tightly woven fabric helps block the wind and a DWR finish repels a few snowflakes or a light drizzle. Not just for adventures at home, the Mountain Hardwear Nitrous Hooded Jacket for women packs into a tiny parcel making it perfect for hiking trips in Chile and Nordic ski trips in the Alps.

Good deal!
Great product as always with Mountain Hardwear. I'm 5'3", 124lbs,and the Small size was actually OK.It would have been fine if I planned on wearing several layer under it. Hood doesn't adjust which is a drawback. Very light weight for the warmth it provides.
Great Purchase
This is what I would consider a "light down" jacket. It is great for layering while still providing significant warmth! It is perfect for when the seasons are changing or layering under a waterproof shell. It is also extremely compact and comfortable.
Unbelievable jacket
Overall: very light and warm for its size. Also very soft and comfortable to wear. By looking at the pouch it comes with, it seems impossible at first that it will ever fit in there, but it stuffs in smoothly and effortlessly. Insulation: I wore this with just a t-shirt underneath on a chilli, windy evening (around 45F), then with some layers just below freezing while taking a short hike in the mountains, and it performed incredibly well both times. It never felt like it was approaching its limits. Design: although it's a short jacket, it hugs my waist and hip pretty well and the one-handed adjustable cord at the bottom makes sure no wind creeps up from underneath. The two exterior pockets keep your hands warm and their zippers look sturdy and never jammed. The one interior pocket is at belly height and does not have a zipper, but an elastic mouth. The only thing I'm missing a bit is an interior chest pocket, but that's not a big deal. The hood is not adjustable, but protected my face very well nonetheless.
nice lightweight jacket
I saw this jacket on the "gear of the day" and knew I would have to get it. I've been looking for a lightweight down jacket for using around town, and/or on hikes/backpacking trips and think I found it! The jacket comes with a hood which is great and will add warmth on the colder nights either in town or in the mountains. It fits great, very comfy, so far has enough warmth but I haven't "field" tested it yet in the hills.....
