My go to pack for tough travels.
I travel between DC and NY on a weekly basis and I have tried several packs and this one surpasses them all on many fronts. I ride comfortable in buses with it in the bus either under the seat or in the cargo section of the bus. This is one tough pack that makes me feel relaxed knowing that the exterior can handle any tough spots. Once you understand how to load this pack, it may become your traveling friend.
very good pack
very impressed with this pack so far. It doesn't look like it's capable of holding a full rack and rope but it certainly is. The gear loops are genius and the compression straps do a great job keeping the heavy stuff stationary and close to your back. The dedicated chalk bag pocket, shoe pocket and tarp are nice touches as well. Comfort wise the pack is very good, easily adjustable to focus the weight where you want it. And it goes without saying the way it opens flat is SO much better than a top-loader. Simply a terrific pack for climbers.
Best Back Pack Ever
Not only great for outdoors, but makes a perfect carry on back for traveling.
Very well thought out use of space, for gear and rope
Great Pack! Makes carrying all the (stuff) easy. Lets you organize all your cams, nuts beaners etc. And keeping your rope separate and covered. Straps, belt are very comfortable, all the extras like outside pockets are great.
Six kinds of awesome
I'm not normally one prone to effusive praise, but I think I'm justified in this case. My climbing partner had a Splitter on our trip to Horseshoe Canyon, and when I saw how easy it was for him to get to his gear, compared to my top-loading backpack, I knew it was worth the cost. Ordered it as soon as I got home and Altrec had the pack in my sweaty little hands within 2 days. The pack is designed expressly for what I want - hauling gear around the crag. The internal organization is excellent, but the clamshell feature and internal gear loops are what makes this pack worth the money. No more pulling out your water, food, and clothes and strewing them on the ground just go get to an extra #3 cam. The construction is durable, and the zipper pulls are easy to use once your hands get really tired. The foldout tarp is a great touch. All in all, best crag pack I have seen.
