decent climbing pack
I also own the previous model of the Scrambler and used it for several alpine rock trips. It is pretty similar, but the thin silnylon material on the bottom is rather fragile and I found myself applying silnet to patch it after every trip. Carrying a light axe and crampons with it was doable, but the bungee cords were kind of a pain. It is light though and I typically removed the framesheet & pad before wadding it up inside my overnight pack. This model has tougher material on the bottom and front, a better system for carrying an axe, and even a rope strap under the lid. There is also a little clip inside for a hydration reservoir. The lid has only one pocket instead of two (not a big deal). It is a little heavier and bulkier, but for some routes that is fine. I used it for a 15-pitch route not too long ago with an ice axe strapped on it, and it was fine.
