Awesome Jacket
This Jacket is awesome! I can't wait to try it! I was between this Jacket and the Patagonia Nano Puff pullover for a lightweight synthetic mid-layer. Although The Nano Puff was a mere 10 oz and less pricey, I still decided to go with the Mountain Hardwear Zonal for a few reasons. 1 - The Patagonia is reputed to have a less flattering fit (Average American), and being 5'10'' ~170lbs with a 30 inch waist, I felt a more athletically fitted jacket such as the Zonal would be more effective and comfortable. (Plus I absolutely LOATHE baggy clothes) The Medium was a perfect fit, with enough space and stretch to have a base layer beneath. 2 - I felt the fully featured Zonal would be useful in a wider variety of situations because of the extra features (pockets) and especially because of the breathable/stretchy side panels and full zip. I definitely saw myself wearing the zonal on more occasions, especially high energy ones, as it has many more venting options. So for those reasons I chose MH Zonal. Even at the cost of an extra 5 oz and some extra $$. Please note that because I live in Miami, and high quality winter gear like this is extremely difficult (more like impossible) to find here, I had to do all my shopping and research online and never got the opportunity to see these jackets in person before buying them. Other then that, this jacket has a ridiculously comfortable feeling from the moment you touch it and put your arms through the sleeves. I am not regretting my decision.

warm and light
The jacket is warm and insulates well in spite of its thin profile and light weight. Works well under the MH Synchro jacket. Useful for very cold ski days under the Synchro or on its own in cool to cold weather. Packs well. Size is true (purchased a Large and I am just under 6' and about 215 lbs.). Its first outing was a ski camping trip in the Idaho backcountry and I am pleased with its performance. Its light weight construction suggests that it might not hold up to wear and tear but time will tell. Less bulk than my old North Face is a big plus. Wearing this my wife does not confuse me for a sales ad for tires...

fit & nice
I work in the auto industry and this is a PERFECT jacket for sitting at your desk inside, and running outside in and out of cars. Looks good, fits great.

Fantastic Jacket
This jacket is much warmer than any jacket this lightweight and compact has a right to be. Great insulation makes it incredibly versatile. Wore it outside in a major cold snap we've been having in Denver. Completely comfortable in moderate activity (snow shoveling) at 5 below zero with just a long sleeve cotton shirt underneath. So surprisingly warm it was almost a little disconcerting to have my torso sending me signals so at odds with the frigid feeling in my legs and head. Also wore it as a midlayer (solid baselayer under and light windstopper over) on a cold ski day (temp in teens and windy). Completely warm in 40mph winds above treeline. Also very comfortable for casual wear when it's mid 50s outside too. Light and breathable enough to keep from getting too hot, unless you really start working hard. It can heat up if you do, but that's when you'll appreciate how light and packable it is to stow somewhere. Only complaint: the sizing strikes me as strange. I'm 5'8" and 165, and should be in a medium, but can't really fit in it. I know MH is supposedly cut for real (read slender) climbers and other athletes, and I admit my gut's not as small as it could be, but my gut fits fine in the medium--it's my shoulders, which are a bit more developed from years of climbing. Seems odd that a jacket built theoretically for climbers doesn't allow much room for climbers' shoulders. So I have a large for my shoulders, and it's a little big on me everywhere else. So check the sizing carefully, and as long as you can find a suitable fit, you won't regret buying this jacket.

Great jacket, very versatile.
Wore it under a North Face Hyvent shell at Vail. It was 20 degrees, snowing hard, and cloudy all day. I was the perfect temperature. Wore it again 3 weeks later on a 10-20 degree day at Copper Mountain under the same shell. I was warm all day. Much more fitted than other down sweaters and jackets. Not very bulky. Looks good, the green color is pretty bright. I have received tons of compliments while wearing it around town. Fabric is a little flimsy, just like all the other down jackets. It could probably snag on a tree or car door easily.
