Good foul weather running jacket
I purchased the jacket to run in rain downpour conditions which have been occurring this winter in Oregon. Since I've acquired the jacket, we've had no downpours, so it is working perfectly. I was advised to get a size larger than I'd normally get, and so I purchased a large. It fits quite good, with a longer tail which will work well for cycling too. There is no stitching in the jacket, instead all of the seams are welded with weatherproof seam sealing tape. Quite a nice touch. The pockets and zippers are all weather/water sealed as well. In hard use it will build up a slight bit of internal moisture, but, I've never found any product which would do better. Longest run on which I've used the jacket was in 40 degree temperature, with a long sleeve technical shirt, about 12 miles and I was quite comfortable.
Great Scott! This is LIGHT.
This jacket was purchased for an outside layer for very cold, winter road biking. I am pleased with the quality. The waterproof seams and zippers are a must for wind and snow/rain. The drop back is an added bonus and it fits perfectly into a bike jersey pocket (without the usual cramming)if the weather gets warm.
Crazy Light!
This shell is crazy light (7.8 oz for XL) and breaths well. Tried it out in a heavy rain shower and kept dry while not sweating like crazy like I would with my Marmot Rush which is about the same weight at 8 oz. The arm holes are tight so size up at least 1 size. At 6'2 210lbs I usually were a Large but the XL worked better.
Great Jacket
Excellent jacket. It's almost hard to believe such a lightweight jacket could be so durable and waterproof. This jacket runs a little longer than other comparably sized Mountain Hardwear stuff, which usually runs very small.
For Southern Calif. all you need over layering
I wear this hiking, biking, long walks. The stretch is amazing. Cinch up the neck and hem and you're sealed in yet allowing sweat to escape. It's so lightweight and stretchable you forget you have an outer shell on. Waterproof zippers seal the deal!
