best out there
I've tried many balaclava, but this one has to be the best. The ones from Seirus were terrible because of it wouldn't stretch to fit. The Gorilla from Outdoor Research seemed great at first, but it had some serious design flaws. It looks lopsided once on my face due to its design, and the velcro enclosure did not stay flush to the face. There was some quality issue as the stitching on the velcro got undone the very first time i put it on. And the venting system designed to allow me to breath caused serious wind burns on my lips. This one from Mountain Hardwear did not suffer from these problems. It stayed comfortable, and kept my face warm. The only drawback is that the mask gets wet around your mouth, and this causes discomfort especially when boarding in very cold weather. But compared to what's out there, I'd say that this is the one I'd recommend.

Best Balaclava For Snowsports
Anyone who has worn a face mask or balaclava in conjunction with goggles knows that condensation build up on the mouthpiece and fogging up you goggles is the biggest problem. The material this is made of allows you to breathe as if nothing is covering your mouth, no holes to allow wind in either just high quality breathable material. It is also extremely warm in 10 degree weather with 20mph wind gusts. Putting this on and covering your head with a nice beanie is all the warmth you will need for your face. A little more costly than most balaclavas but when you put it on you know where your money went.

very warm and comfortable
The fit is nice and snug it kept my head warm when it was 6 degrees and that's with windchill factor. I like the hinged sides which makes for easy adjustments. The only complaint I have is that it's not quite snug at the top of my forehead. There's a gap about 2 fingers wide and 2 knuckle's deep (See Photo). It doesn't take away from it's performance, like I said, it worked very well in 6 degree temperature. I'm glad I have it.

Puckers a little
I own so many balaclavas, I've lost count. When it comes to head protection, I have a Smartwool, an Icebreaker merino balaclava, a Under Armour Coldgear (highly highly recommended!), and this MHW hardface. I also own many Buff headwear pieces. This Powerstretch Hardface piece is a very comfortable and warm balaclava, and the only gripe I have is the way it fits over my forehead. Because of cut of the fabric (and lack of stretch compared to my other balaclavas), the thing puckers a little on the middle of my forehead, so the edge doesn't sit flat against my skin on the top of my head. If I pull the facemask portion above my nose, there is a pucker of the fabric on either side of my eyes that doesn't sit flush on my skin. It's still very functional and a great piece for keeping your noggin warm. My favorite dedicated balaclava is the Under Armour Coldgear -- it's thinner but the fit is truly awesome! I highly highly recommend it. For a little more protection, this MHW is great!
