Killer convertables
I wore these pants for the first time on the appalachian trail in new Hampshire. I spent three days in the same pants zipping and unzipping them as they weather changed. They held up well and were very comfortable. They stretched well with movement and dried out quickly. Great product for the price. I would by them all over again.
My brother-in-law introduced me to the Mesa Convertible pants and I loved them the first time I put them on. I find it somewhat hard to find pants that fit comfortably all day since I have a larger than average lower body; pant seats and thighs are the deciding factor for me. Quality seems to be excellent. I couldn't give it 5 stars for durability yet since I've only had them for a short time, but I doubt that it'd be lacking. I chose this pair of pants over the convertible Matterhorn pants because of the more comfortable lightweight material.
These pants are the best.....
I did exchange the belt with one of my own. After clipping a few stitches, this proved to be pretty easy and makes the pants one of the most comfortable, "go-to" pair of pants I own. I really like the convertibility and the fabric is very light but strong. They look good and feel great on. What more could you ask? Cannot rate the durability yet, but so far so good.
Solid pants
Took two pairs of these pants to the Quetico for a week this summer and both held up very well. I was getting them completely soaked every day, and they would dry extremely fast. We were also daily scrambling over rocks and walking through dense foliage and I had zero tears in the pants fabric. I found the zip-off features easy to work with and as a huge plus, the shorts actually look like a normal pair once you zip the legs off. I had multiple people compliment the look of the shorts, although that was not why I purchased them. The fit is great, although I would encourage buyers to pay attention to the sizing chart to ensure you get the correct length. Overall, I was impressed as to how they held over an intense week of wet conditions. I would definitely purchase these again and fully intend to get significant use out of them.
I like these pants.
These are the second pair of convertible pants I've owned. The first were a super light-weight material that left me feeling a bit "naked". Especially when hiking through less then well kept trails. The Mesa Convertible are what I would call medium weight. That is, they're not the weight of full-on cotton trousers, but not like the parachute silk of the other brand I own. And personally, I prefer a heavier pants when going into the back country. As for the rest, I'm not crazy about cinch belts, but the snap release buckle makes it work, though it seems a bit flimsy. I'm a little weary of it lasting. Otherwise, to date, the legs zip on and off easy enough and the rest of the overall workmanship, comfort and design made it an excellent purchase for my needs.
