Super warm, not stodgy
When waiting for a bus on the coldest days, I can't imagine a better coat. Despite the thick insulation, it cuts a trim figure. If you exercise, though, the heat builds up and the coat will never let it go.

YOU LITTLE BEWDY!!
Have been looking for a coat/jacket with,, 1)a decent backlength as a lot of jackets barely cover your rear 2) with plenty of warmth, NOTHING CAN BEAT DOWN FOR WARMTH 3)without the michelen man look, as been said many times I dont think calling this the (downtown) coat is really doing it justice. Makes it sound like its only good for walking across the street. Nothing could be further from the truth!! It's an outdoorsman's classic, great for the ski fields, the hunting camp,(where I've been using it} and snazzy enough to wear downtown for a latte with the chardonnay set!!

Warm down coat without bulk
I'm 6'3" 190 lbs and was worried about L vs. XL. I ordered the large and was very happy. Sleeve length and body are perfect.This coat lives up to the Mountain Hardwear reputation. It is quite warm.
