Blue, very cool
Blue, very cool Large size also plenty my big head This was a happy, warm in winter.
A winner for sure!
OK so you know wool is an awesome fabric-warm when wet, big time less stink factor, resists burning, etc. So yes the Corvus has the advantage of wool but the drop down face gaiter is brilliant-the Corvus covers the ears but when the gaiter is used you can have total head coverage excepting the eyes. Granted the gaiter is thin (but very pliable) it will stop the bitter wind from bighting the face. When you don't need it just stow it under the cap..when you get too hot with the hat but are still wearing the gaiter just let the hat fall to the side or rear and then use the gaiter as a face mask or drop it down and use it only as a neck gaiter. The gaiter is attack in the rear of the inside of the Corvus so you can't loose it! I've got a full head of hair but some with less may get a little itchy/scratchy from the cap on the forehead...it is not merino. All in all a brilliant concept that is well executed and nice to stuff in the parka/jacket for eventual winter use.
Mixed Feelings
This is a well built well designed hat. I purchased two. However I find it less warm than my Dome Perignon based on multiple 10k plus trips in CO. The weave when stretched a little (normal when head inserted)does not provide the wind block that the Dome Perignon does. I'm finding I only use the Corvus Dome in less challenging conditions than I had hoped for. If I have a windy low temp trip I'll I use the Dome Perignon and a separate neck gaiter. If they come up with a hat that has wind stopper and the gaiter I'll be all over it. Good hat just consider what you'll use it for.
Great to always be prepared
The hat itself is very warm. A little itchy but completely bearable. The dropdown gater is great on somewhat windy days to help keep the wind off. It does not keep in a lot of heat so if it was really cold and windy you would need a full on gaiter. I think it is great for CO skiing when it is a nice day and only windy at the top of certain lifts and you can use it then or tuck it away.
awkward fit and poor insulation
The face protection piece did not ventilate the air and moisture from breathing accumulated on the fabric. I would not recommend this product.
