Good purchase
Good solid boot can wear to work or walking dog in cold wet weather. Solid built boot holds up very well in all conditions. Very warm !! Great for long walks in tough weather or just normal cold conditions.
Great quality but not light weight
I was looking for a lightweight boot that is warm and durable, so ordered these because they seemed to fit that description. When they arrived I was surprised by the large size and heavy weight of the boots. The insulation is warm, the quality is great, and they look good too! But, after wearing them inside for 5 minutes my ankles were already hurting, as they're extremely stiff and don't bend at all. If you're looking for a serious winter boot to wear in severe cold and snow conditions then this may be a good choice. For my purpose they're way too heavy, stiff and clumsy - so I had to return them.
Well constructed but stiff boot
I'm 5'7" 125lbs size 9 shoe. I purchased a size 9 but should have maybe got an 8 or 8.5 as they run about a size large. First of all the sole is great and the primaloft makes for a very fluffy inside. The air cushion in the heel is nice as well. The outside of the boot looks well put together and durable. The tread on the bottom is top notch. That being said, upon wearing them around the apartment to test the fit, I noticed that the upper part of the boot is super stiff and tends to jab into the side of your shin just above the ankle. I tried tightening and loosening it but nothing would help. The boot also feels very heavy and clunky. Maybe because they are size too big I don't know. Overall I think they would be better on a more hearty guy as I'm kinda small. They seem like they would last a lifetime, very heavy duty. I will have to return them as they are too big and hurt to wear. If they didn't jab me so much I would prolly get the 8.5 but I'm thinking maybe the isotherm 6 might work better for me.
The boot is stiff and has a heavy feel. The extra insulation in it (400g v 200g of primaloft) compared to other Merrell boots makes for a very snug fit.
