With the Marmot Women's Tranquility Jacket's longer profile and elegant styling, you'd be forgiven if you mistook this garment for a boutique sport jacket. The truth is, this clever bit of work is really a capable softshell, sloughing off wind and water with ease and breathing naturally to knock-down chills before they start. The plush, high-loft fleece lining is almost fur-like in warmth and feel.

Cute jacket!
Exactly what I was looking for in a jacket. Perfect for Spring weather when it's still a little chilly. I will wear when I'm taking my daily walk or with jeans when out running errands.
I am happy with this jacket. It fits nice and keeps me warm when I take my children to all their sport games. I can even put layers underneath if the weather is really chilly. I wish the color of the black one was more black rather than grayish-black.
Wanted to like it
I wanted to badly to like this softshell, since it was one of the few with a hood that cost a reasonable price. However, when it came I was very disappointed with it. First, the arm holes are huge. That wouldn't have been as big of an issue if it had velco straps at the wrists or some other way to tighten it. Unfortunately, there was no way to adjust that so the windproof capabilities are immediately shot. Secondly, the fit in general is really loose. I got the XS, and I normally have to suck in everything to zip up similar sized Mountain Hardwear jackets. With this one, I could have easily worn a sweatshirt under it and still have room to move. Lastly, the zipper on the jacket I received was defective. It took a 5 minute struggle to even close it up, not something I want to be doing in windy weather. I couldn't live with all three of those flaws, so this had to go back. Too bad, because the jacket otherwise felt nice and was much cheaper than similar jackets.
