The Awesome Marmot Whitehorse Parka You Could Retire In!
I needed a big, black winter coat that covers your head and rear and Altrec had a huge selection. I never heard of Altrec or the Marmot Whitehorse Parka before, but you can't find a nice coat selection up here in Milwaukee for some reason. Anyway, I ordered the wrong color and the next day I called back and this really awesome rep switched my order during processing and got the right one out to me. I asked my buddy Dan about Marmot as this thing was in transit and he said they are an old company with very good quality. I hoped so because I don't want to get ripped off by a young company with bad quality. Well, this thing arrived a day early, and let me tell you...SO IMPRESSED! It reminds me of the simple yet effective coats they used to wear in the 50's, but that was before my time. The best part-- this thing is awesome for lifting your arms up! Whatever this "angel wing movement is that Marmot patented, it works like a genuine charm! You can reach for things and not have the coat ride up! The coat is of very sturdy construction with two zippers in case one breaks, and, you guessed it Velcro to seal the deal! I thought that the coat, even though it was black, had a slight blue tint to it. This could be because it just needs to sit in the closet for a few months. I'm very proud to say that I got a Marmot Whitehorse Parka. I had three of my envious friends try it on, and even my indifferent fiance, and they all were blown away. I highly recommend getting a Marmot Whitehorse Parka from Altrec, or anything from Altrec. They are awesome. Another thing is this parka is very bulky and roomy, but that's what keeps you warm! This multi-layer zippered-in coat stuff is not only a fashion disease, but it's less warm and ironically makes you sweat more. Take it from me, it's worth spending over $200 for this coat for the bragging rights alone. Plus, it comes in a box and sealed in a bag, and hasn't been sitting on the rack for months in some department store with stitches pulled out, rips, scuffs, and kool aid stains. I'll have this coat for many years, I'm sure. -Brandon

Excellect warmth, materials, This is best of breed !
Four hours using a snow blower while 15 inches of snow fell and not a spot of dampness in the Jacket. Using the hood and enclosing flaps, I was warm as toast. The wind, sometimes gusting to 35 mph, made moving the snow very hard, but I never felt the cold. later that week we had temps in the single digits, with moderate winds, this jacket is the best down jacket I've ever owned. My old LL Bean jacket, usually soaked through in heavy snow, and with wind you always felt the cold coming through the jacket weave. You can stand with the wind in your face and your chest and shoulders never feel the cold. I wore a tee shirt one day while out with my labrador, only my face got cold; Excellent product, shell seems to take traveling through the brush well; but a bit overly large. I am 5'9", 255 and purchased the extra large. A large would have been fine; I have plenty of room for a heavy wool shirt under the jacket. Overall, stitching, zippers, etc. and materials get an A+. Jacket is worth every penny.
