The only sound you hear as you float through the dry, quiet powder is the sound of your buddies whooping for joy on the other side of a stand of tamarack trees. You grin contentedly knowing you'll be warm and dry for as many laps as your legs can handle when you're wearing the weatherproof Marmot Men's Tamarack Jacket. Made for in and out of bounds skiing and snowboarding, this winter jacket is crafted from waterproof breathable 2-layer MemBrain fabric. It is seam sealed and constructed with water-resistant pockets to keep the elements out. Vent extra heat on a climb when you unzip the underarm PitZips and leave the zip-off storm hood at home on sunny spring days. While it is not insulated, it is Zip-in compatible so you can connect this waterproof shell jacket to a Marmot fleece jacket or insulated jacket (only the Cauldron Jacket or the Approach Jacket are compatible) for extra warmth. Reinforced elbows bounce off branches without a snag to be found and Angel-Wing Movement gives you a full range of motion so this coat doesn't expose any skin when you lift your arms. From spring ski tours in Desolation Wilderness to lift-served lines at Alpine Meadows Resort, the Marmot Tamarack Jacket for men will expertly block wind, snow and rain to keep you dry. Is it just you or do those trees seem extra happy today?

So far so good
Like others have said, great fit and quality so far. Good looking jacket with warm pockets and a great hood. Looks like a casual jacket. The only cons are stiff chest pocket zipper and unnecessary arm pocket. One more thing is the picture of the black jacket is wrong. It is navy blue with white marmot lettering.
The tamarack is perfect
I recently purchased the tamarack, my first hard shell, and can't be happier with my purchase. Living in Chicago, we get the wind and the precipitation, this jacket has done its job and some. In 20 degree weather with wind chills in the single digits, I layered with a full zip light weight fleece and felt nothing. The snow and sleet beads up and rolls off. Below zero wind chill is expected this weekend, time to really test this bad boy. Lastly, this jacket has some room, but isn't boxy. Layering is easy, comfortable and not bulky. If you're in the market for a lightweight hardshell thats tough as nails give the tamarack a go.
Great ski shell
I bought this jacket for my husband for Christmas and he loves it. It is a perfect weight and very versatile. He wears it by itself on warmer days and with fleeces on cold days. He loves the fit and the soft collar. The hood has a pull in the back so he can have good peripheral visibility. It seems quite durable, although he hasn't had it very long. He wishes it had an ipod pouch so you can thread your headphones inside the jacket, but that appears to be the only disadvantage. He is about 6 feet tall and has very long arms and a Large fit perfectly. Shipping was very quick and product was delivered as expected.
awesome buy
First marmot jacket I've owned and the best jacket I've ever owned. The fit is excellent and the rain sheds off it.It is warm for most midwest winter days but you can zip in a liner for the really cold ones. Can't wait to take it skiing. Would buy this again in a second
Very nice high quality shell
I've owned this shell for about a year and would purchase one again in a second. It's a high quality piece of clothing that looks and performs great. The sleeves are a bit long but that depends on your body type.
