Light weight and durable but fit large
The Optima Pant uses Gore-tex Paclite fabric, while not as effective as the Pro Shell, has a good weight to performance ratio. The Paclite is also cheaper and help bring down the cost of the Optima pant. Marmot has design the zip to run full length on each side of the pants which makes putting on and taking off the pants extremely easy. The zips are protected by flap which helps keep water away. The zip themselves are not waterproof though. The Optima pant comes with a buckle that allows some adjustment on the waist (about 2 inches). It would be better if it is design to also hold a belt consider how big the pants fits. My waist is 32" and purchased an M after consulting marmot's own size chart which says 31 - 33 inch. After taking my own measurement, i find Medium suitable for 33 - 35 inch. This is 2 inches over what is being recommended. Still too big for me after some light layering. Overall a very well made product from Marmot but the size chart could be better.

Light, well made, bomb proof
It's Marmot and GoreTex PacLite, one of the best things out there. I found them to run large and had to move to a smaller size. Well designed with full zips and taped seams throughout.
