I live in a colder climate and was always leary of softshell jackets. I would always use a outer shell (with pit-zips and a hood) and layer appropriatly under it. Buying this jacket was a little bit of an experiment. I've been quite happy with the purchase. I've worn it though the sping season in temps that have ranged from 20's-50's. Battling snow, rain, wind and general cold weather. I've biked, hiked and climbed in this jacket and it really works great. I would definatly recomend this jacket.

Good Jacket
I use this jacket for hiking, and am pleased with it. It is windproof and waterproof, although it is not breathable. Hood is very versatile. Interior cell phone pocket is a nice touch. It's not quite as warm as I thought it would be. I am 5'7" and 200 pounds. The extra large is a bit snug, especially in the armpit area, but I seem to have broken it in somewhat.
