A nice jacket for spring and fall
One of the lightest windproof jackets on the market. Feel very comfortable wearing it. The fabric is thin, and without insulation, it may not provide enough warmth for winter use. A perfect softshell for windy days in spring and fall. This jacket got a trim cut, you may want to go one size up if you are going to wear it over a midlayer.
It's the ultimate hoodie.
This is my go to jacket. It's surprisingly warm for it's weight, and the windstopper does wonders for, well, wind. Pit zips that go the length of the jacket give awesome breathability and unfettered access to gear on your harness. Baffled collar is great. Keeps warmth in and wind away from your neck. I wear this jacket climbing, biking, around town, sitting at home. Buy it if you are looking for an alpine style wind layer.
Awesome Jacket, Wont take it off!
I looked at softshells from Marmot, Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, Arcteryx and Mammut. I decided on the Ultimate Hoody from Mammut for its quality in design and functionality. The full pit-zips and thumb loops were a huge selling point and perform magnificently. I have gone on three rainy day-hikes of at least 8 miles with this jacket in the last few weeks and it has not failed me yet. It kept me warm at 24F with the snow coming down(wearing one layer of thermals underneath) as well as cool at 50 degrees on a strenuous uphill hike. It is definitely windproof and can keep up with sustained rain for about 45 minutes before i felt penetration. Aesthetically this jacket is "hip", definitely fits well and looks good in town. Highly recommended.
truly worth the money!
I bought this hoody a week ago, and am truly satisfied with it. First the fit is perfect - I am 6'4" and 195 pounds, and have pretty long arms, which always caused me trouble with finding clothes that fit well. But this hoody in size XL is perfect for me - it's not to wide at shoulders and waist and the arms are definitely long enough. The overall quality is very good and the description on the web page is very precise. Also what I really like, is the light weight of it. It makes it very useful for longer trips on which you have to carry everything on your back. For its extremely light weight, it is very windproof and and warm. If it ever gets too warm, the zippers under the arms are very easy to open and provide immediate and effective cooling. Overall a perfect product for me and totally worth the money!
Great fit and weight
I'm tall and thin (6'5"/195lbs)and the XL fits prefect. Long enough sleeves and not too baggy. The weight is not light though it's not bulky. Hoping I am going to love this for skiing and hiking.
