Great Boots!
Just purchased them and tried them on. Very comfortable and light weight. I have yet to try them out outdoors, not until this coming May when I will be doing most of my trail hikes.
Backpacked right out of the box....
I bought a pair of these three years ago and hiked immediately without problems. I had an 85 mile 8 day trip coming up just a few miles after buying these boots, but decided to take a chance on them rather than the much heavier Vasque Sundowner boots I had already worn in. The La Sportiva Halite GTX boots proved to be an excellent choice. I was concerned that the boot might be lightweight for such a trip (I'm a 180 pound 6'2" guy carrying 70 pounds), but I found them to be way more than adequate. I am now buying my second pair. Not because I wanted to, but because I had one boot fall out of a truck on some remote road. Shame on me for littering.
Runs narrow!
These boots run really narrow.... and thats why I bought them! In my quest to purchase new hiking boots these were the only ones that my feet were not swimming in. I've only done day hikes so far, but these should be supportive enough for 30lb or so adventures. Break in period was short, maybe 4-5 hr with only one wear spot from the tongue, which a small piece of mole skin solved. I put some sole footbeds in and now they are ready for some high mileage days. Only concern is durability, as other reviewers elsewhere have brought up about La Sportiva. Ive been wearing them a lot and have notived some loose thread ends...Time will tell. If you get them on sale I'd go for it!
