Customer Reviews for the Mistral 0 Degree Kelty Sleeping Bag

Loved It!
Only tested it down to 25 degrees which is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star. By nature, I'm not inclined to believe the degree ratings of sleeping bags or peoples reviews of them because there are so many variables and a lot of reviewers don't specify the conditions the bag was used under. My test conditions were as follows so you can judge how the bag might work under your conditions: Tent hammock with space blanket/featherbed topper underneath the sleeping bag and fly over hammock. Wore med-wt longjohns bottom and top with cotton knit pants, cotton slipper socks and no hat. Also used silk liner which noticeably helped. Results: restless sleep partially due to hammock issues and partially due to cold feet and head at times (didn't use the hood properly). But overall better than other snow camping experiences. Night 2: 31 degrees, wore wool socks and hat, polar fleece pants over long johns and extra lt wt longjohn shirt. Used the hood snugged up and only covered the hammock-tent with half the fly for better ventilation. Results: slept like a baby. Took the coyotes at dawn to wake me up and then I still went back to sleep for another 4 hours. The latest I've ever slept in camping. Overall very impressed with the bag and it's performance over our 10 degree rated down bags. Wouldn't recommend for backpacking though, because of the weight. For car camping it was great.
