Best gear
I was hesitant to purchase because of the price per pole, but after returning another set of cheaper ones that didn't cut it, these are really nice. I set them up, supporting the Kelty 16' Noah's Tarp, in the backyard on a row of houses situated parallel along a large treeline that strongly channels the wind. The 16'x16' tarp, acting like a sail, applied violent stresses on all parts of the system--stakes, poles, lines, etc. The grommets on the tarp actually started to give out and rip apart from the material. The poles were largely under the influence of axial compressive forces, but had some good radial force applied as well. I really just wanted to set it up to see how it looked and get a feel for the dimensions, for campsite planning, but I couldn't have staged a better test. Held up perfectly.

Wise Choice
the kelty adjustable poles are a bit large but perfect for any trip. they are suitable for day trips or any other situation where you need easy, quick set-up.
