The rise was too high at the back of my ankle
I have at least 10 pairs of keen sandals. I was hoping I'd get lucky with a closed shoe for hiking. Bought the size I normally wear and a 1/2 size larger. They both fit well. The larger a bit more roomy. They both accommodated my huge bunion. I had to return them as the back of ankle rode too high and would be a point for future blisters or pain. I'll be hiking with my Keen Venice H2 instead.
Amazing shoes!
Just buy it, you won't regret it,
WOW! Great shoes!
WOW WOW WOW! They are light-weight and very comfy, but be sure to go 1/2 size up on keen.
roomy fit
These are my first pair of dedicated hiking shoes and first experience with Keen. I have previously only used Asics Kayanos for all my running, hiking and backpacking needs. These shoes have a wide toe box which provides ample room for me to wiggle my toes. As another reviewer mentioned, the rise on the back of the ankle is quite high. Even though this did cause some friction initially, it no longer seems to be too much of an issue. The high rise does give substantial ankle support, without the usual bulkiness around the ankles. I have also found that toe bangs and foot sliding is an issue, especially during down hill running. I will try some different lacing techniques, which will hopefully minimize this issue. I bought one full size larger than my normal shoe size in anticipation of wearing it with thicker socks in cold weather.
