Versitile Boot
I wanted a boot that was a comfortable change when I removed my ski boots after a session of ski coaching but didn't look like a technical climbing boot. The Keen Alta fit the bill and more. It is a subtley attractive boot that I can wear to the office on a snowy day and warm and comfortable enough for a winter evening walk with my dog. It is warm enough to keep my toes confortable while outdoors without being too warm when indoors. It is not a super rugged boot for a ski lift operator or mailman but a everyday go-to boot for the average winter fan who wants a little style also.

Living in the Northeast, I have tried many styles of winter boots. This Alta Mid boot is the best yet. It is easy to put on, warm and breathable. The finish is durable and water proof, and looks good with a pair of jeans. My wide foot as plenty of room. Many boots that I have had were bulky, with massive treads, making it difficult for driving. These boots do not have that problem and the tread is compact while still retaining good grip. I do wish the brown did not have a white edged sole, but selecting the black solved that issue. The loop in the front seems to have no purpose and would be more useful placed at the rear. All in all this is a great boot, just be careful to get the correct size, as they do run a bit on the small size. A little extra room will keep you warmer.

All Around Boot
I've been looking for shoes that I could use for a trip to Ireland. I was looking for a shoe that would be good for rain, touring and informal dining. The boot looks like it will work. I'll find out in a month or so. The fit runs a little smaller (I ordered a half size larger). This works well except for a little roomy at the heel. No problem, I can live with that. Overall, good looking boot. Great price and service from Altrec.

We bought these for my dad for Christmas. He loves the look of them, but we are going to return them for a larger size. He is typically a true size 13 and he had a tough time slipping them on with a thin pair of socks on-so he thinks he needs a size 14. Otherwise, they seem like a great boot, very durable, just runs a little small.

Keen Alta Mid
Boot keeps my foot warm and dry. Little break in period....may be 2 or 3 times before the shoe molds to your feet. Now it's my favorite got to when it cold and wet.
