summer shoes
I was worried about how the lacing would look, but it's nice! great summer shoe. light weight and breathable. I normally wear a 10 and the keens fit perfect.
almost perfect
i like the A86's alot--i was suprised that Keen's initial entry into the world of 'minimalist' trail shoes is so well conceived. the new balance MT101 has been my everyday trail shoe ever since it came out, but i find myself turning to the A86's more & more as i'm about to head out the door. so....here are the things i like about the shoes: they're extremely light & flexible, traction is superb in all conditions, they drain very quickly, and the low heel-to-toe drop provides a nice flat, stable platform. there are only a few negatives for me that prevent this from being best trail shoe i've ever worn: toe box is kind of narrow adn squeezes my foot a little too much, the tongue is very thick and has more padding than necessary, and i have some concerns regading construction/durability. i wear an 11 in all my running shoes and the a86 in size 11 was the right fit, but i also removed the insole which has helped give a little more breathing room in the forefoot area. really excellent shoe and if they could just tweak it a bit to accommodate a more natural forefoot spreading (that's the one area where the MT101's are superior), i would give it a 5 star rating instead of a 4.
