Great Boots!!!
I have worn these boots in a wide variety of field conditions over a period of 6 months. They are an exceptionally well executed, lightweight backpacking boot. Uppers look great and are durable, breathable and water resistant. Excellent heel control, arch support, forefoot cushioning and ankle support. Very sturdy boot with just the right amount of stiffness. True to size, ideal for medium to low volume feet.
Great boot
Very similar to the vertigo high but much lighter. These boots do run small, I ordered a full size up what what I usually wear. Great value break in time seems to be going quickly. I put them on right out of the box and they feel very comforable
These boots are phenomenal!
I see why Outside magazine ranked them as their gear of the year. They required almost no break in period. They are incredibly light. I am currently working on some research in the desert of New Mexico and are working well in the hot sands.
Great Boots
I was skeptical on purchasing these boots because of some of the online reviews that said you have to have a narrow foot. Well I am glad I decided to give them a try! When I first opened the box the first thing I noticed was the quality of the boot. The vibram soles, stitching and overall feel. The big test was next, how they felt while on my feet. My toes did feel cramped in the toe box, but the rest of my foot felt comfortable. I losened up the the laces a little and that did help. After 3 days of wearing them and breaking them in, they feel very good now. Still feel a little "close" in the toe area, but nothing that causes any discomfort or any kind of rubbing on my foot. I feel like they are "bomb" proof, I haven't been able to test if they are waterproof yet but doubt that will be an issue. Oh and I almost forgot the BEST part, my feet have had no issues with breathing in these boots. No sweaty socks!! These are not boots I would wear casually with jeans, but I have no fear that they will support me when hiking and backpacking.
Good boots, but...
I have medium width, low volume feet with narrow heels, like many of those who find Kayland boots a good fit. I have had a pair of their Apex XT light mountaineering boots for two years and love them. I ordered the Vertigo Light as a replacement for my aging light hikers, but after wearing them around inside the house, I was disappointed to find that the toe box is too narrow. I've seen this issue with these boots raised elsewhere in reviews. The fit is great in all other aspects and true to size (size 9), but if my toes feel cramped wearing them at home, I'd hate to think of what they're going to be like after a few hours on the trail.
