Happy Feet
La Sportiva, Asolo, Scarpa. None of them fit just right without some fiddling. The Kaylands fit perfectly. No insoles or rubbing or stretching. My foot is a 10.5, though usually I wear an 11.5 in order to get some wiggle room for my toes. This, of course means my heels float all over the place. Not at all with the Kaylands. Perfect fit, perfect arch support, right out of the box. The soles are extremely stiff and I expect to enjoy ice climbing in these shortly. I will update my review then. In the mean time I have put a few thousand vertical feet of training hill climbs in these boots with no problems at all. The rubber is fairly sticky, the ankle support is solid, but I can still finesse a step when I have to. The to-the-toe lacing is great, though I miss having a lace lock near the ankle. The Hypertractions have kept me warm down to about 20 degrees of standing around with thick socks on. I have yet to get cold feet while moving. I have also yet to get these boots wet, so I can't comment on that just now. Overall the boots feel... solid. I know I've used that word before, but that is impression I get. Yet they aren't all that heavy. And seem to be very well built.
