Amazing Fleece Hoody
This 320 RealFleece Merino wool Hoody was my go to piece on a very cold 2 week cross-country skiing trip in Yellowstone. I wore it as one of my top layers under my single layer windbreaker. The soft hood came in very handy and kept me toasty warm. The taylored shape of the jacket gives it a very elegant look. An extremely versatile piece for for all occasions and all seasons. I love it... and of course - no stink - no itch..
for a cool spring evening and wintery snow
I bought this hoodie anticipating the cool spring evenings coming up instead of a jacket, but today it snowed even though this is the beginning of spring. It was so perfectly warm and cozy. A very versatile addition to my wardrobe!
My new go to zip jacket
I've been living in this hoodie for over a month now! Here are my thoughts: [ Fabric ] The fabric for the Igloo is niiiiice. The outer is smooth, the inside is fleece (merino wool fleece). While the fleece isn't quite as teddy-bear soft as the really nice polyester stuff, over a thin shirt it's not noticeable at all. The fabric is also substantial, so the jacket as a whole is soft and warm. It's the first Icebreaker jacket I've actually liked. [ Cut ] I am 5'4", measurements 34" - 28" - 38", and ordered a small. Aside from the inconsistencies in cut from garment to garment (Icebreaker, quality control pleeeease), the jacket does look sharp. The cut however seems to be meant for street wear, as the sleeve-to-shoulder section is cut similarly to a pea coat (not raglan sleeves). Therefore, the arm mobility is not stellar. The waist area is smaller than I would have expected, so if you're a bit bulgy in the middle, consider ordering a size up. The arms are nice and long, but not too wide -- I don't think I'd even try to wear anything thick underneath. The hood, once zipped, is tight, but not uncomfortably so. Overall, I'd say this jacket is form-fitting but not skin-tight. It's definitely an outer full-zip sweater-jacket layer. [ Color ] The color "divine" is a deep purple and more feminine than the Icebreaker color "Java". The "merlot" trim is medium-deep a grape purple. The hood is lined in the "merlot" fabric. The pockets are lined in the "divine" fabric. The zipper itself is "divine", but the unzipped portions have a "merlot" trim. I was surprisingly pleased with this color combination -- Icebreaker is definitely improving its color selection (IMO). [ Verdict ] This has become my THE full-zip sweater-jacket. I love that this garment is much more robust than a cashmere full-zip, and much more normal-looking than any other sport-zip I've found. I'd definitely recommend giving this jacket a try, and I hope that Icebreaker comes out with many more fleece jackets in the future.
Icebreaker Igloo Hoody
I'm a huge Icebreaker fan and couldn't wait to get the Igloo "realfleece" hoody. I love the fabric and quality and warmth. It's a great layering piece under my Mayfair coat. Only downside is the fit. It sort of bells out at the bottom. I like that it's a bit longer in the back, but if it was straight across, I'd have taken it to my alteration person to have them put a little elastic in the bottom. All in all, I'm glad I got it. But I prefer my tried and true Quantum Hoody from Icebreaker. I find myself grabbing that one out of the closet instead. This one is certainly heavier and more "snuggly" for lack of a better word, but that one fits me better. This was the first year with this jacket, maybe they will refine the cut.
great
RealFleece women's hoodie is excellent--way better than synthetic fleece in my opinion. it's super soft, super comfy, super warm for it's weight, and easy to move in. quality is excellent, and compared to other icebreaker purchases i have made, the fit is true to stated size. my only criticism is that the pockets are a little too far back to reach comfortably; they are nice and big, but could have been set a little more forward. am considering getting the other color as well!
