Excellent
Functional, versatile and most of all extremely comfortable
Seems like a great pack, just not what I'm looking for
I'm trying to find a versatile daypack to hike Machu Picchu in a couple of months. I read tons of great reviews for women's Gregory packs, thought I'd give it a try. The pack is comfortable and roomy, but I saw the Jade 30 at another store and it has an extra pocket up top (I *love* extra pockets). I'm planning to return this pack to get the Jade 30 instead. I will say that it seems to run big - I got measured at Moosejaw at 18 inches, but the medium was wayyy too big. If I opted to go with this pack, I'd exchange it for a small. All in all, good pack, just not what I'm looking for this time around.
FITS WELL, GOOD BACK VENTILATION, VERY CUTE
Pros: Trampoline back vents really well, good supportive hipbelt allows for carrying bigger loads, hipbelt pockets can easily fit my digital camera or iphone for easy access, wire frame very supportive. And, last but not least, I seem to always get compliments on the pack when I'm out hiking. Cons: no venting on shoulders/hipbelt, access to security pocket is awkward, especially if you're using a hydration bladder (the bladder hose goes from behind the pocket to in front of it, making it difficult to access), using with a hydration bladder makes it awkward to pack/access other things in the main compartment, because the bladder sticks up right in the middle of the pack. I think my ideal day pack would be a gregory jade 25 meets osprey talon 22. Keep the trampoline back on the gregory, the color, all the compression straps, and the hoop frame, and add the osprey's waffle shoulder straps and hipbelt, separate hydration bladder pouch, and seperate zippered mesh security pocket - in other words, the Osprey Aura. Problem is, the smallest the Osprey Aura is available in is 35L, and it's a HUGE 35L for a daypack. *sigh* Overall, I'm very pleased with the pack, it's definitely the best day pack for hiking I've found so far (I also have an osprey talon 22 which I use for running, or loaning to friends who I talk into coming hiking with me). Not the *perfect* pack, but close. Definitely would purchase again.
