Excellent shorts
These are great shorts! Very durable so they can stand the abuse of hiking, climbing, etc. They also have a built in belt, which is super nice. The length is just right for outdoors activities - not too long, but not too short.

Solid, basic shorts
I only purchased these shorts recently, so I can't comment on their durability. They seem solidly constructed; good seams and relatively thick fabric. What is best about them: their simple-ness. Basic, solid shorts. They have pockets in the right places. They are also very soft. They are cut a little on the short side relative to the waist size. I am undecided about whether the waist buckle is a pro, or whether it will become annoying.

straighforward shorts
a quality cotton short with just the needed basics: heavyweight but comfy fabric, deep pockets, room for the crotch, and a built in belt. great fit for active walking, hiking, etc. no snaps on back pockets--good--and no cellphone pocket--even better.
