Customer Reviews for the Oregon Garmin GPS 300

Good item! I love the touchscreen!
This is my first GPS unit so I guess I have little to compare it to. I did a lot of research before I decided on the Oregon. I use it for mountain biking, navigation, and geocaching. It does so many other things I have yet to explore. Everything has worked great except as you can tell by all the other reviews online is the brightness of the screen and battery life. You have to have the backlight all pretty much all the time, especially in bright daylight because the material of the touchscreen creates a glare. So since you are always using the backlight, the battery life is not great. Other than that, I love the device. The topo maps cost a pretty penny, but are very detailed and useful if you are into that sort of thing. Geocaching with this device is awesome because you can download all the information straight to the device and do not have to write anything down. It downloads the hints and comments too! I love it! So should you buy it? I did and I am happy with it. It was expensive, (had a discount though) but it has served the purpose for which I purchased it and I would recommend it others. Is it worth the price? I have never really used any other device to truly compare the difference so I can't help you with that.
