My wife and I hike almost every year in Europe and we've struggled with taking our present hiking poles apart and sandwiching them in our luggage, so we've wished for more compact poles for some time. Recently, I read a short review of Exped hiking poles in Backpacker Magazine and I ordered a pair for my wife. The Exped Backpacking model is just what we were looking for in a hiking pole. It solved our overseas transporting problem and the poles sturdy and conformed to our grips nicely. I have now ordered a pair for me.
Convenient Size
I bought these to use in the approach to the base of climbing routes in the Swiss Alps. It is important to be able to fit them into my backpack to avoiding snagging in chimneys and while hauling. The four section construction makes them significantly shorter. They appear to be pretty right for the task
