Exped quality with extra space, details, and savings
I am very pleased with the Andromeda II. The vestibule is the largest that I have ever seen. The sleeping area is ample with plenty of room for 2 sleeping pads and bags. I'm not 6 feet tall so I use the extra space at the foot of the inner tent for stowing personal items. There are plenty of loops for a gear loft and flashlights. Storage compartments on the sides of the inner tent come in handy for stowing additional personal items. There's not a great deal of headroom in the inner tent but the yellow interior brightens things when you're couped up during a long storm. The vestibule has about 6 additional inches for headroom, which compensates well. The vestibule is perfect for cooking or sitting with companions during wind, rain, or snow. Reflective guy-lines are generous, and most are already attached to the outer tent. Exped is attentive to this kind of detail, which is time-saving and contributes to the functionality of the tent.I already own the Exped Sirius Extreme tent. Both are keepers. I looked at some Hilleberg tents but I'm not sure what I would be gaining if I had substituted one for the Andromeda II. For hundreds of dollars less, the Andromeda II has more inner tent and vestibule space than its counterparts at Hilleberg. The Andromeda II is a little heavier but I feel that the small additional weight is worth the extra space. I use this tent when I have a companion, while I reserve my Sirius Extreme tent for solo adventures. I would not try to pitch this tent in rocky areas because as a tunnel or "hooped" tent, it requires sufficient soil to stake the tent and guylines. However, that is not a deficiency of this tent alone. All non-freestanding tents would present the same challenge. I found the Andromeda II easy to set up on the proper terrain. It has all the cutting edge "extras" of Exped, and I plan on using it for a long time. For me, this is a five-star tent.
Very roomy and functional but a bit difficult to setup
Overall This tent is very good and I will trust it for stormy and snowy weather, as well for warm weather. It is roomy but requires you to use guywires to setup (rocky areas are a no-go). I primarily use it for winter camping and will use it for spring/fall weather, as well. Recommendation: I would recommend this to a friend and would almost certainly buy it again. Pros: materials seem very sturdy, guywires allow for strong setup, venting is great, space in the tent is roomy for 2 but not too big, covered entry way for storing gear without dirtying tent is fantastic, small prop windows allow for venting and seeing outside without letting in rain, attached tent to the tarp is great for fast setup. Cons: on rocky areas I had a hard time even setting up the tent since it needs guywires to hold it up vs being a freestanding tent, there are many straps that made it difficult to setup in cold and dark but this was the very first time for me so maybe not a valid complaint, door side tarp does not touch the ground and was about 4 inches from the ground (permitting snow or rain) but this may be from a poor setup on my part
