Make no mistake: these are gorgeous boots. I'm a size 9, 5'4" 125#, tend to run wide in the ball of the foot and narrow in the calf, and so was very pleased to find a true-to-size boot that fits both of my width criteria. Lovely leather, pile lined shaft BUT NOT FOOTBED. The footbed is plenty comfortable with a sock, though. Tried a sheepskin insole, which would have worked if I wanted to go a half size up. Here's the really disappointing part: the high back angle results in a V when viewed from the front. When worn with tucked-in jeans, one has the unexpected disadvantage of exaggerating any inner thigh heaviness. On me, the boots gap on the outside, ride close on the inside. So the uneven upper edge of the boot results in anti-sleek, instead of sleek. They do work with skirts, untucked pants.
