Great for a day trip when you don't have to carry a lot. Comfortable. Great quality. love the fact it has it's own rain cover. seems to keep back cooler than standard pack.
Great for a 400-mile bike ride
I used this daypack on a 4-day ride down the Pacific coast. * It fit a change of clothes, bike tools, food, and some extra layers without a problem. * The side pockets were great for stashing a few energy bars. * The frame and mesh backing kept my back dry and unstrained. I can't recommend this pack highly enough.
Hardly knew it was on my back!
I hiked up Mt Si in Washington State with this pack. It fit lunch for my son and I, extra jackets and two liters of water. Granted, it was a light load but it did carry very well and I hardly noticed it was on my back. My favorite feature is the ventilated back so I did not feel extra sweaty.
Perfect for Commuter!
This bag is fantastic. I commute to work by boat and on days when it is raining my pack would get soaked! The rain cover on this bag solved my problems! Plus, the bag is lightweight and comfortable.
Almost Perfect...
I give it an 'almost perfect' rating for the following reasons.. Pros: *Excellent build quality *Back ventilation system not only keeps sweat off your back, but also keeps contents dry when laying pack in snow or mud *Built in Rain Fly is perfect fit for pack, and even rolls over top half of shoulder straps when pack is not on your back. However, the pack is practically waterproof without it thanks to great design and material choices. Bottum compartment for rain fly separates it from dry contents inside pack. *Cinching cord and sleeve on top closure are oversized , reducing the annoying snagging that sometimes happens with smaller cords. *No waist pockets!!! :) I've always felt that hip-belt pockets were completely useless, especially on a pack this size. *Pack holds to torso closely making it ideal for running, jumping, climbing etc. Lack of external compression straps lets you really get into the brush without snagging. *Sternum strap in conjunction with hydration hose strap on right shoulder hold a hiking umbrella perfectly! *Trecking pole loops also accomodate umbrella Cons: *Shoulder straps overbuilt for a pack this size. Check out Deuters Race X packs for an example of a better strap choice. *At 6'2", this pack rides really high on my back, and the hip support does not wrap around to actual hips, but instead rest around kidneys. Could potentially be painful over time but it is unlikely a pack of this size would be loaded that heavily. *Slightly on the heavy side, with competitors packs coming in a full pound under in certain cases. *Steel frame (overkill?) creates curve in back pannel, wasting space when loading flat items such as laptops, books etc. Conclusion: The incredibly durable build and materials are slightly overkill for a pack this small. If you want a small pack that is bomb proof, fully featured and don't mind the weight -this is it. We're talking Mammut mountaineering build. Great looking for those who like sexy gear!
