This Omni-Tech Thunderstorm II Ball Cap from Columbia allows you to enjoy the outdoors despite threat of thunderheads. Full seam sealing reinforces a waterproof-breathable membrane, while the venting mesh liner keeps the cool air flowing. NOT for those who play hard!
This hat is fine if you are standing around watching someone ELSE workout. It is not breathable, and it does not "keep the cool air flowing" as claimed. I have worn it probably 15 times when biking 30-40 miles a day. If you recreate hard, this is NOT the hat you want. The "Omni-Dry sweatband" wicks moisture away from your brow, all right. It runs to the back of the sweatband and drips down onto your shoulders. Or accumulates behind the sweatband and overflows and drips off the brim. Really makes a great impression when you stop to talk to someone. Turn the hat upside down and fill it with water. It doesn't go anywhere. You could start a hydroponic garden in it. It's definitely waterproof--inside and out. One review I read was of a guy who wore it to a dog show, and it rained. The hat was waterproof. Exactly. Now I understand. Yes, it will keep the sun out of your eyes while you're watching somebody else work hard, but that's about all it's good for. Unfortunately, the liner inside also makes the cap hot.
