Outstanding construction
This is an obviously meticulously constructed garment. The build-quality is 5 stars. It's appears to be a stitch-through construction, but there is an additional layer of nylon externally in addition to the baffled down-containing layer. I suppose this helps with wind resistance and durability. The hood is very functional, and the zippers are high quality. Canada-Goose states that the down is Hutterite DUCK down. I've never heard of duck down (which is considered inferior to goose down) described as Hutterite (which is used to describe a high quality Canadian goose down), but there is no reason to doubt the insulative quality of this jacket. It felt warm and very comfortable. The fit is an athletic fit. I ordered a MEDIUM for my 5'8, 155 pound, 40 inch chest athletic frame, and the fit was perfect with a base layer and non-bulky midlayer. Not only that, but the extra layer of external nylon gives it a very clean appearance, as it hides the baffling stitch lines. This jacket does not look puffy at all! I ended up returning the garment, not because I was disappointed with the quality, but because there was extra weight for the warmth and function it provided. It's a very high quality garment for casual and day-trip/activity, but it is not an expedition garment. My Montane North Star is lighter and warmer with higher quality down (93/7 adult geese) and cost half what the Lodge Hoody costs. I couldn't justify keeping the beautiful Canada Goose jacket because it didn't really add functionality to my gear.
Awesome Jacket
My wife picked this out for me to replace a down Patagonia jacket that I wore almost every day of every winter for the past four years. She felt my Patagonia jacket was too boxy and wanted me to get something that she considered "stylish." I am all about warmth and so far this jacket has proved to be very warm and extremely comfortable. I wear a Large in Patagonia but found the XL to fit me better since this jacket is a little tighter fitting. I would suggest purchasing your true size if you want a snug feel but I like the ability to layer and have a bit of room for maneuverability.
I <3 Canada and their jackets
This jacket is unbelievably warm and looks really cool too, even if you just want to wear it around town. It fits very well and is not too baggy around the waist and midsection. I really like how it compresses easily and can fit in almost any gear bag with relative ease. The zippers are very durable and simple to utilize, even with gloves on. Canada Goose makes superior products, and I'd expect nothing less from the land of peace, equality, and natural beauty.
