If you don't want to wear a backpack, try CamelBak's Montara 45 oz Lumbar Pack. It's perfect for when you need water at your disposal but don't want to carry it on your back. Just fill up the water reservoir, stick your keys in the two zippered pockets, stash your energy bars in the two stretch mesh waist-belt pockets and off you go for a perfect day. CamelBak's has a strap management system that secures the ends of your straps so they won't flip up and down with each step you take. Volume: 150cu in (2.5L).

Good Hydration Solution
The Montara is the best solution to hydration while running that I've found to date. It rides well with minimal movement and carries enough water for me for an 8-10 mile run in moderate desert conditions. I've found two things I wish were different. The water "hose" is very stiff. More flexibility would make adapting the configuration to differing heights much easier. Also, the waist size is too big for small people. My waist is 25" and I just barely make it work by taking out every bit of slack I can. Hint: be sure to prime the hose with water before starting out.
Lumbar pack
i own 2 regular shoulder camelbacks for biking. For this good price, thought i would try the lumbar pack for trail runs with the dog. Very good build quality - biggest con is 2 things: straps are way too long - WOULD EASILY FIT SOMEONE WITH A 44 INCH WAIST (my wife who is tiny can wear it, but it is a bit loose on her, even when retracted all the way back) The other con is that the capacity is way too small, especially for summer time - may be good option for fall or winter runs of 3-5 miles, otherwise not enough fluid capacity.
