Developed for advanced and expert freeriders, the ultra-responsive Burton Driver X remains the stiffest boot ever designed by Burton. But keep this in mind: stiffest does not equate with discomfort--unless you size everything wrong. The Driver X is all about power transmission between your leg muscles to your snowboard edges, and when you have an exceptionally supportive boot like this one, you're talking about near-instantaneous transmissions between your brain and your board without feeling like you're mired in a couple of Medieval-era toe vices (which we personally think are probably worse than those old iron thumb screws). The Driver X also has a new and exclusive Dual Axis Power Spine backstay that cranks the response while matching this technical with amazing medial and lateral support. A notable and important side effect from this Dual Axis Power Spine backstay is it reinforces the Driver X. Anyone who uses ultra-stiff performance boots knows that the firmness tends to decline after a hard season or three of use, depending on how much you ride in a year. This new backstay design will help the Driver X maintain uniform support longer than a lot of other performance boots out there. This season the Driver X has Burton's proven and popular Speed Zone Lacing, which Burton claims (possibly quite rightly so) is the fastest and easiest lacing system currently available to snowboarders. While most high-end boot closures allow you to adjust independently the upper and lower (zonal) tension, Burton's Speed Zone Lacing can be adjusted in seconds while waiting in lift lines or for your friends to catch up. The Driver X also features Burton's Shrinkage Footprint reduction technology, which means that whatever boot size you choose, Burton reduced the exterior boot sole area on your board to better fit your snowboard. If that sounds like a tight fit around your feet, it really isn't. Your feet fit the same size boot, but the exterior footprint fits snowboards better, so the boot is lighter and has less bulk; and if you want to ride a board that might drag the toe on your existing boots, Burton's Shrinkage Footprint reduction technology might give you the solution that you need. Best of all, Burton used new Eco-Smart recycled materials on the upper mesh and Vibram sole, so you reduce the carbon footprint no matter which boot size you choose.

Good boots
Really liking these boots for lift serve and splitboarding. Stiff and comfortable. Nervous about the lacing system, but no problems yet.

Fantastic boots with great support....!!!
These boots feel, almost like a ski boot ,type of stiffness, so they are great for riding on the toe-side of the board.I needed a boot that offered alot of lower leg support. These do the job, it seems like I can stay on the slopes alot longer now and my legs don't get tired as quickly..

Fantastic!
Been boarding since I received my Burton 145 Elite in 1986. Tried countless combinations of equipment. Being old school, going big & fast, needing immediate board response, these are the best you can get. Very stiff, but very comfortable, out of the box, wore them for 6 hrs of back country, no issues. Only concern, if the laces break? Luv the upper & lower lace control, I just keep a cord for back up if they break or get cut.

These boots are good!
I really like these snowboarding boots - they are easy to hike in and they dont have any heel lift.

these boots are awesome! but.....
The one thing that i don't like about these boots is that for some reason, something continues to hit me in the shins, which has left me with sore legs after snowboarding. Other than that they are comfort (for the most part) and good for hiking, and relatively light weight.
